first time viewer and all i can say is wow.
You keep saying hx 3070, it's hx 370.
Man, I wish, you would do comparisons between HX370 8840U and the Steam Deck on bazzite.
I'm mostly interested to see, how far we're away from this generational leap that Valve is talking about and necessary for a Steam Deck 2. From my research there's still a way to go, especially, if we want a devices, that's affordable like the Steam Deck.
And the most important thing is efficiency and bandwidth and I don't this mitigate except with more cache. What kind of? That's an interesting question! 3D V-Cache seems to be too expensive but possibly necessary or the APU becomes too big. Maybe an MCM design? Likely not. So many questions.
please put all values on display, not a quick swich, you know what they are because you made the graph, but i dont know all and its anoying puase and go back trying to decifer what is all of it
the heat was ok with 2024 edition. however, the fan noise profile was bad. does 2025 sound nicer?
Your videos sold me on buying the first GPD win handheld, which came in super handy as I had major surgery and was bed ridden for many months, luckily I had that device to use, it was perfect. By god did it get warm! and loud!
Thank you for the many years of content
GPD batteries always bloat after 1 year
ridiculously chunky. price is insane
Seems like its not worth it to upgrade yet from my 6800u
I love this device. I just wish it was larger to fit a full keys keyboard (like the astroslide 5G)
It looks it but will the grip fit the 2024 model?
Where’s the link to purchase this thing?
the oculink would ofbeen a sale from me coming from a win max 6800u but like you said my its best to wait on the next gen ration rdna gta 6 will be hard to play on this without that oculink
When can we buy
It doesn't need a keyboard. What a crappy looking piece of crap. Next.
You probably already saw this, but GPD also seems to have stealth upgraded the internals of the Win Max 2 with the same HX 370 chip as this. If I had the money I'd get it in a heartbeat since I like the form factor of the Win Max 2 more than the Mini.
my s 21 from 3 years ago still has no bezel
The Vita was tiny. This is still massive lol.
25:04 please restest these but with both on Bazzite to see if the HX 370 finally outpaces the 8840u by a considerable amount! It seems weird to me that an APU with a better CPU and GPU is falling this far behind on games that utilizes multiple cores like Cyberpunk
Can the stick toppers be replaced with concave ones, like on the Odin 2? Personally I really hate convex sticks, it's kind of a dealbreaker for me 🙁
I bought the GPD Win 2 a few years ago and loved it a lot. I wanted to upgrade however I find out GPD keeps making new versions every year so I end up holding out every time.
I feel like the 8840u’s most recent driver update I noticed a some more improvements or is it just me?? The strix point running at hotter temps not a good thing.. I didn’t really think about things like this until I got the win 4 8840u and sometimes it can get pretty warm…. Can’t imagine at 85/90 c. That is just too hot for a handheld.
Near 2k for a handheld. No. As cool as it seems. I'll take my Asus zephyrus. It was a bit more, but not all gaming laptops are, plus I use my zephyrus for everything, including making money.
Overpriced, terrible controller economics, made by a no-name Chinese company that needs Indigogo campaigns to launch products, so good luck on warranty repairs or them even existing in a few years
What's the staining situation like with the white version?
No oculink no go 😢
They keep on cranking these out on an annual basis, but how is the reliability and repairability?
Ill stick with my lenovo legion go 😂❤
where do i buy?
can we undervolt the 370 in the win mini?
Onexsugar next
Damn u love that formfactor, I hate it to end of the world. Glad is the best handheld 4 u but not for me.
If I didn't already have 4 handheld PCs already. lol
Everything is Perfect 🥰 BUT THAT PRICE!
Yet, compared to a IPhone its better
love the 6800u HX370 comparisons there actually held on the first win4 for a long while now been doing repairs here and there and the win mini is getting more and more attractive, just kinda want a low power comparison between the two like at 3-5w how wopuld the hx compared cause I recall the 6800u was the last one that have s3 sleep
edit: oh yeah biggest upgrade, there's a white one now
Happy with my 8840U/32G/2TB Win Mini which is only few months old and running great! I play Half Life games and Resident Evil reboots (7, Village etc) and all of them run like butter at 18-20W TDP at medium high settings (of course with Ray Tracing off). This is a piece of futuristic technology imo that I can keep tucked in my jacket pocket or bag and will not be replacing it for at least 5 years or more (provided spare batteries are made available to purchase and hardware doesn't fail).
Why compare to 6800U at all? Only comparisons with 7840/8840 seem relevant here.
This is neat. It would be a lot cooler if I could buy one. I'm afraid by the time it gets released it will be outdated.
How about noise of the new cooling solution?
Is it likely that the 2025 version is released within these 2 weeks?
Noticed how you started with the 6800u instead of the 1st gen Win Mini 7840u. Were the 7840u's cpu zen cores that much better than strix point e/p cores for these benchmarks? It's not a good fit if I need to park cores to play games. No oculink here either. Wish GPD gave us at least 2 full speed usb4 ports. Perhaps a hx 365 is the ideal combo. Seems nuts to make the Mini fatter and not give us a bigger battery. Scrap the sound to extend that battery.
I just want a grid layout keyboard
Missing oculink port 😢
These sticks really suck, the calibration on my left one loses range on me all of the time. There is lots of wiggle room at the sticks center point (creates a litteral physical dead zone) making precise aiming or player movement harder and harder to execute as the wear takes its toll. Many times R3 doesnt register when I thumb press. I think its because only 2 offset scews hold each analog stick to the base plastic frame. The nuts are hot press fit which can come free. I want GPD or any 3rd party to better replacements.
I actually want the GPD Win 4. But since I also need it for work, I can't possibly use it at work because many colleagues will notice. So I feel the GPD Pocket 4 is the right choice. However, the downside is that there is no built-in joystick, so I can't enjoy this at home to the fullest when playing games. And now I saw the GPD Win Mini, it's like a combination of the two. But still if one of my coworkers sees that there is a joystick on my mini laptop, it would still be embarrassing. It would be great if the joystick could be hidden like the win max but still have a small size. Because win max is too big and heavy for me.
I wonder if things will change in the coming months as drivers mature more for the new cpu? As it the results are just disappointing. There is no reason to upgrade over a 7840u, 8840u, or z1e.
unless I sell my legion go 2tb with 32 gb ram I can not justify this even though I want this more but doubt I will get anywhere near my money back for the Legion Go and this costs more but it is way gooder from what I can tell
If only they made all the buttons and keys white, that would've been muah*
I’m confused about the comparison with 8840u. In all other reporting I recall the 370 is clearly the stronger performer at various TDPs, yet in virtually all tests you ran the 370 struggles to keep up. @ThePhawx
the black one still look nice, the plain white one look like some toy for the kid lol.
