  1. Hey Scarlet, firstly, I am most definitely NOT defending the big reviewers, but the problem with I*N and the like is that they are a business, and as a business would they want to pick up a product that fails? No. So if they happen to pick up something that fails, it get's a 7/10…because what business wants downwards/red arrows on their spreadsheet? So someone like you, who I've known since you started, you have always been you and not someone who would ever adhere to the latest political agendas or "say what the dev's/publishers want" kind of person. And over the years to come you will never become that. It's just not you. You of all people would hate being someone like that (God forbid your moustache would get up and picket it you did).
I think it's also important that when you review a game that you mention early on, that it on average, "takes A-B hours to complete. But if you go and do C, it may take you up to D hours." That way potential buyers can know if it's something they actually have time for.
Ratings from 0-100 is by far more exact, and because of your analytical grey matter, the more room to explain that scale of rating.
Also, remember that gamers like/dislike games for different reasons, and get fun out of games for different reasons too, so you will ALWAYS have backlash from some, no matter what rating you give. I, for instance don't play true Soul's games because I'm crap at them lol, and don't want to have to do the same battle 1000 times (and probably still not get through).
Gameplay deserves more that 50 percent in my opinion too, but then I'm and old b**tard who grew up with poor graphics and sound in the early days. The End, lol.

  2. I think ACG talks a lot..but says a whole lot of nothing. I think you talk a lot and are way more clear and concise with your information. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, that's the reason I'm here. I am digging the concept and will be here for it.

  3. Integrity is the only reason why I subscribe to people talking about games on youtube.

I think you should not retire games and not move them around and not update thumbnails.

Let many games be on the same place as 75/100 RPG and 75/100 FPS and 75/100 puzzle game will all be different but all can deserve the spot. I think having like max 5 games for each score would make that list into more of a 5 year old list that would also be good at telling people what older games to buy on sales etc.

Maybe even create a steam curator to keep your scores and link to videos there.

  4. This is a very interesting idea. While I don't think half of games you're going to play will only be worthy of a 50 or below, it's at least intriguing. I do feel a little bad for the devs getting low scores just based on better games you've played in the year, but it will at least make a good list for the whole year.

  5. The most important thing is that you have fun doing it. If you have no passion for what you are doing literally nobody will care

  6. sounds like a truck tonne of work, would suggest PowerBI or something like that to help with some of the data display during reviews as well as to track the list of review criteria, you could show the best of in each category at a click of a button. Maybe even share your BI build to supporters….

  7. "its gonna get me backlash", Honestly that's probably a GOOD THING. Their is a old phrase in politics "if you are making people mad, you must be doing something right" or some variation their of. DAME BRAKING OUT THE EXEL SPREDSHEETS! OK then, let the "Lab Reports" Commence production! I can't remember if I left a comment on your last video but, all power to you Scarlet. But as always "Do not become what you seek to destroy", I doubt that will happen but its a subtle thing that happens. Like I feel like their is a reason the "Media" keeps bringing up "Gamer Gate" every 5 years, they must have done SOMETHING RIGHT.

Ya know, it makes you wonder how BAD a game needs to be for "Games Media" to give it a 5 out 10 or less. I cannot remember the last time I saw a game go below a 6 out of 10, and as noted previously they always seem to be 7 out of 10 to 10 out of 10. Its pretty clear IGNs 7 our of ten is not the same has everyone else's 7 out of 10. A 7 out of 10 is not AVERAGE, that is well ABOVE AVERAGE. 7 out of 10 to ME is "it's a grate game, but it has its flaws", IE the game is not perfect but its a FUN game.

X out of 5 Stars, X out of 10, X out 100. Technically all the same system just different number scales. Still id say 0 to 100 is a pretty good scale if your going to "objective" Opinion.

  8. I thought Xplay's old score system of 1 through 5 was excellent.
0: A zero would not be a game at all.
1: Barely a game. Stupid or dysfunctional. [10% of games]
2: A bad game. Boring, clunky, broken: not fun. [20% of games]
3: An average game. Nothing special about it at all, but good enough if it's your type of game and you'll have enough fun with it. [40% of games]
4: A good game. Does a number of things really well. [20% of games]
5: A great game you should definitely play if you like the kind of game it is at all. [10% of games]

  9. I am going to suggest on top of your rolling 12 month system you have an additional 3-5 year one. The reason for this is 'iconic/memorable' games that may fall out of the 12month system will still be there in the extended form. Not all games are released as perfection out of the gate but still are remembered as special games. Even Gollum is remember as a benchmark for horrible.

Maybe have an extended system/rank with their initial 'release score'

I just fear your system will become a rolling 'Top 100' over the last year with little reference for games that get bunped out over time, despite them being 'special/iconic'.
For example, BG3 is something that likely wont be replicated due to publisher interference and/or indie budgets but will be a benchmark for the industry for a long time but will fall out of your system after 12months, The same could be said for many iconic games over the years, thats the only concern I have for your system.

Completely accept I may be missing something obvious with your system that gets around my concerns.

Love your channel, its one of my 'go-to' along with Skill-up and ACG.
