I have sunk so many hours into this chill game
I played the hell out of the original, but never picked up the squel because it was more "gamey". This is really a return to from for EO.
I want an exploration game like Endless Ocean…
– as polished as Subnautica for movements in the water…
– with realistic looking, with good lighting ambiance & audio…
– with the possibility to hunt fish & be hunted by sharks (or worse).
– with the possibility to find treasures and sell them to upgrade (like Blue World)
– with the possibility to go on shore, and walk around your base and explore caves.
Imagine the fun.
While i agree for m what ive seen they failed to build off of what EO2 had …
I cant help but feel this review is faulting the game for its staple mechanics that all the EO games follow.
how did this game get worse…
as a person who is obsessed with PowerWash Simulator, i think this game sounds very fun
Dude i would play Subnautica rather than this
Honestly you can get a similar experience playing Animal Crossing 🙂
I would love to buy but can't justify spending 50$ on this..
$50 is wild 😂
looks and plays like a mobile game released on switch… and people are even comparing it to the first two
I agree with you. This new Endless Ocean is rather "shallow" when compared to Endless Ocean: Blue World, which remains one of my favourite video games. 🐋
This is the perfect quest 3 game, but…… You know
If they really wanted to reboot/revitalize a wii game they really should have gone with Mad World, Red Steel or if they wanted it to be animal focused Deadly Creatures.
It's no abzu or Subnautica, however there is something to be said about "the first to make an effort" that sets it apart.
My hope was for something going all the way back to Everblue 2. That was such a cool game with really interesting upgrades to gear and mechanics. This game is…fine? But I really don't like how grindy it is. It is a nice way to relax but it just seems stilly how the story has to be progressed with such grindy goals.
Ok, so i have been looking for a chill game to play when i go to bed….. This certainly seems to scratch that itch.
I really loved EO2 this looks really disappointing compared to it's predecessors.
Better play New Pokemon snap or the previous endless ocean than this…
How is it. The game that came out on the Wii over a decade ago, has more content and stuff to do?
This game looks utterly incomplete tbh.
So it sounds like a almost realistic diving experience 😂 sounds perfect for me 😊 only reason I'm no into subnauitca & EO2 was the dangerous wildlife. I just want to just enjoy the fish.
Hit the nail on the head brother. What a let down, the first 2 games were magical. They took everything great about the first games and just neutered it
It's soulless. You don't interact with the creatures you meet, there's no hubworld like the ship in EO1 or Nineball Island in EO2. No Hayley Westenra to grace us with her songs as we explore, just a stupid AI chiseling away at our eardrums. No dolphins to befriend and partner up with to aid us in finding hidden, tiny lifeforms or treasures on the seafloor. The story is waaaaaaay too slow to progress (e.g. scan a million fish to progress for two minutes of the next chapter) so it doesn't capture my interest. It would have been way better if the Endless Ocean prequels were ported over onto the Switch instead of this hollow, empty, insulting, soulless excuse that dares to call itself a sequel to one of best casual gaming series ever produced by Nintendo.
I absolutely loved the first endless ocean on the Nintendo wii i have a huge phobia of the ocean so it was my chance to have some kind of interaction without actually having to go in it 😂
To me it looks like they have taken the relaxation from the original and expanded on it
I will certainly give this game a go even if its just for the nostalgia of playing when i was a kiddo!!!
I’m into this sort of stuff that the game entails, except the only thing holding me back is the price. I do not think something like this should be $50. I think I will buy this if and when it goes on sale.
Endless Ocean 2 was almost everything I wanted from the series, and for them to just. Remove all that great content? Its honestly sad.
This game looks too fast paced to be the original endless ocean, and the reefs look lifeless. Also no surface interactions from the boat?
This is a cozy exploration game. It's supposed to be relaxing and captivating. There's not supposed to be much "to do" and I plan on relaxing into this game all summer long.
I think what held this game back was the fact that the actual gameplay and story are completely separate from each other, and the fact that you can explore everything the sea has to offer right away without having to work for it. I should feel awe when I discover a trench, ancient ruins, or a huge whale, and I did in the first two Endless Ocean games, but for Luminous, I just… don't.
Endless Ocean is a continuation of the Everblue series on the PlayStation 2. The series predates the Wii by half a decade.
This game has nothing to do with the Wii. 😂
Ain’t got nothing on subnautica
Losing gorgeous hand designed levels for bland procedural generated maps is a massive downgrade, in a game where exploration is the entire game, that choice deincentivizes not just exploring but the entire gameplay loop
Profoundly disappointed as someone who played the originals when they released. It feels like we lost so much only to get replaced by abysmal procedural generation
the 2nd Endless Ocean had so much more to do. Walking on land, building an aqauarium, stunning agressive animals to cure them, taming dolphins. what a shame this new game sucks
So no lore? Or going on land
This is disappointing.
