  1. Is it better? Omg yes… I even got choked up on the last episode. I haven't cried at a movie since Return of The Jedi (1983) when Vader turned good, took off his mask, and died… (it was too much at once for my 9y/o brain to handle). Dunno if I can go on without Mariko though

  2. I read the book, watched the mini series with Richard Chamberlain, but really can't remember too much about it. He also wrote a book about Hong Kong, which was good, but can't remember too much about it either. It's hell getting old.

  3. what are you talking about?

Did we see the same show?

    I liked the second episode.

But other than that, this is one of the most boring series I've ever seen.

For ten episodes nothing happens, just boring politics.

If I wanted to hear endless conversations, I would get married.

And some people compare it to Game of Thrones?

    Shame on them

  4. I finished this show about a week ago. It was absolutely fantastic! Every episode was amazing. I hope they get a lot of awards for it. 👏 👏

  5. Mate, you nailed it. This show is great. The story and characters, the acting, the effects, the costumes are all fantastic. Like you say, it's a bummer there is not more TV reaching for this quality of entertainment for the un-braindead viewer. Maybe that's too small a market? Go ahead and watch more episodes, you'll bloody love it

  6. Shogun didn't end up a crushing disappointment. So yes, it's better than GoT. At least so far, until they manage to release a couple shitty final seasons.

  7. Nah man nothing will be as good as GOT except maybe anything associated with it that's coming out, maybe the Vikings with Ivan the Boneless and Floki

  8. Anna Sawai is terrible. Both Moeka Hoshi and Fumi Nikaidô were much better and excellent in their roles.

  9. Fucking series ended as it was just getting started.

Never thought it would be possible, but worst ending than Lost, Heroes and GOT.

  10. I finish it 2 days ago. I love yabushinge . Because he is stuck in all the political BS and all he want is thing to stay the same as it was. He has a lot of "I'm to old for this shit" I respect. Yeah he make bad calls, but it is all in the intentions of getting back to his tranquil leadership. love this show

  11. I saw the original tv show when i was a kid and then read the book. When I was older, i re-read the book and rewatched the old tv show. This remake is like a kid's dream come through in 4k and new actors that play their roles splendidly. 10/10. The worst part of the story is watching Mariko die. Deep inside you're hoping she and John will live happily ever after but it's never meant to be. That's not the story. Anyways, thank you for the review!

  12. OzzyMan. I hope you realise that there was an earlier Shogun series from 1980. An Excellent one with Richard Chamberlain as the dude.
What this really means is that No-One can fukn write to save their asses. Witness GOT or fkn VILLNOOOVE'S Dune ..Bladerunner 2024 …or that vacuous Peripheral Series: Compared to William Gibson's book that is. All the way back to the LOTR: movies NEW MOVIES SUCK ASS -GENERALLY.
The best summation is provided by SouthPark's 'Pandervers'…
And don't get me goin' on the US House cheering like Aussie Rugby fans after passing another 60B in blood money… Talk about not being able to speak yer own fkn language.

  13. 2:42 Cheeky decapitation; Classic run of the mill travel stories

A cheeky decapitation is always a valid part of the plot. Yep. 😂

  14. 1:01– Yeah……. Naw! It seams like it’s going to be a lot of pausing and reading to me!!! Even if the show is perfect, having to do what I just said brings it down to a 2 star at best!!! Just saying

  15. This is the first ive seen of this but withe your commentary it looks bloody good 👍 mate😊 though that sounds a bit crawly bum lick 😊shaun

  16. I'm enjoying it. As you said – it's nice to not be treated like an idiot as a watcher. And there are some surprising stuff I'm learning. I watched the original miniseries with Chamberlain and though I was really young, I was really fascinated by it all. Still am – like I just can't quite imagine how powerful these religions were that they had the Japanese converting. I would have thought it would have been so foreign – and so inherently not useful to them but I guess not. Good stuff.

  17. Absolutely fabulous show. Its a fictional retrlling of the beginning of the Tokugawa Shogunate. An age that eould last over 250 years. Tokugawa is considered the third great unifier of japan. Amazing depiction of thr end of the Sengoku and beginning of the Edo period.
