The problem with the villain thing is that villains who revolve around the legendarys can only escalate so much

Man, those memes like the Mewtwo vs Koraidon/Miraidon are so unfair. You could make it the opposite:

Koraidon/Miraidon: After a devastating defeat, someone helped me, and we went on a grand adventure, regaining my abilities and eventually saving the world.
Mewtwo: aw boohoo can someone please catch me im so bored in this cave

I defended every new gen, jncluding enjoying Sw/Sh until Scarlet and Violet was literally unplayable lol. It's not about pokemon or narrative design there, it was just a broken product

Funny how he went a whole video about hating modern pokemon without even mentioning Sw/sh, the MOST hated new pokemon generation

I’m more mad the mainline games haven’t added new mechanics that do anything interesting besides making an already easy game easier since gen 3

Modern pokemon is bad because they stopped focusing on the fun and focused more on the story. I know thats hard for you you youngens to understand, but the fun of pokemon is about battling and catching. Needing to hear story every few feet makes it obnoxious to play for anyone with a mind over 14.

Hot take. S/M has one of the best stories in the series, and IMO is the only one that comes close to B/W. It has some of the best written characters in the series, even most captains get more personality than most gym leaders both before and after. And the entire main cast as well as the villains have a lot of depth to them (for Pokémon games at least)!

The only major villain I disliked in pokemon games was Rose.

A REAL abusive parent in a story like pokemon?! Not something that's comically evil, but truly real enough to be uncomfortable.

Even the professor's in gen 9 are such a cool and depressing story beat. They're not deadbeats, they're just dead.

Not everything is great, sure, but there's some really cool stuff in modern pokemon.

Now if only the games had more time to cook.

Their are likely things modern pokemon that don't age well or left to be desired.

Pokémon Adventures is really good. I’ve only read everything from the Kanto story through the Deoxys storyline and there’s a lot of stuff I wish was in the games, like Surge, Koga, and Sabrina working for team Rocket and the evil elite 4
