  1. 3:40 – Hmm.. I don't know about that sentiment Russ. We're on different sides of the fence of the AMOLED display debate but there's enough IPS kits which are decent options for OG hardware. Those mods are a bit trickier than the FPGA kit and about double the price of the FPGA kit for ones with the mod work done. So there are price and convenience benefits to FPGA but ideally usability should be in the same ballpark once the mod is complete and including the larger screen.

Really what I would like is an FPGA GBC with AMOLED desaturation options which could be dropped into any form factor – DMG, color, horizontal GBA like the Frog Boy, and SP. Micro might be a bit of a pipedream. So we're not quite there yet with this modware. It's all interesting novelty but it has potential. As long as it's fun, that's all that matters.

  2. Hi, thanks for the video! I grew up in the era of video games and would love to replay some of these old games. Could you tell me if all the games come installed on the devices or do I have to download them? If so could you tell me how/where?

  3. My picks would still be the Miyoo Mini Plus for ps1 and older, and the Steamdeck OLED for n64 and newer. That 7" OLED and nice controls work wonderfully for PS2 and GCN

  4. Hey Russ, One thing i never see you bring up that i think is important , mainly to shed light onto it so maybe these companies do better, Is D-Pad plastic texture durability. So far Anbernic pads and even my 8-bitDO D-Pads lose all of their texture and go shiny and smooth in an unreasonable amount of time . My RG35xx plus D-Pad went from textured and nice to completely shiny and slick after beating ONE game , and not even a very long one ( Kirby Dreamland on DMG) That's insane, especially since i have NES and SNES controllers i had as a kid that still have their texture on the D-Pads . Maybe bring that up as a follow up review? Would be a good watch .

NOTE: slick D-Pads feel gross lol

  5. Which is better: the AYA Neo Pocket S or the Odin 2? I mainly play DS, 3DS, and, if possible, Switch games. I'm not very tech-savvy and prefer a plug-and-play experience. Currently, I'm playing on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and considering sticking with it using Delta, especially if I can get a good controller like the Gamesir G8 Plus. What do you think? I also like big screens as I have bad vision. Ty

  6. Can anyone point me into the right direction when it comes to choosing the "right" (or just a good one) SD card for the RP4 Pro?

  7. if you're gonna splash $300+, you may as well get a base model steam deck (and upgrade the ssd yourself later on, it's very easy). you'll be able to emulate even modern consoles and play most pc games too.

  8. I grew up with the original monochrome green dmg. Does the funnyplaying FPGA gameboy replicate the dot matrix effect?

  9. If I wanted the newest version of the A30 what site would I order from? Keep it retro , all express or miyoo themselves?

  10. I was nervous getting into these handhelds and now I couldn't imagine not having my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. It's enabled me to play all my retro games without having to dig out my old consoles and adapters.

  11. Wait so you can buy any of these and it will be pre loaded with everything or Iโ€™ll have to put it myself?

  12. Can anyone tell me if the position on the analogue sticks is a big deal, I prefer the sticks top left bottom right – would I get used to a retroid pocket pro layout?

  13. I wish we had something with the power of the RP4Pro but more comfortable

I had the RP3 and my hands would cramp constantly

  14. Im roughly new tp the channel amd i love the content so far, super informative, but im having troublr looking for a vertical handheld with a decent size screen and thats comfortabke for people with big hands, i just want to play gb, gbc and gba games and nes, snes.
