During the opening session of Unreal Fest Seattle 2024, Epic Games released the Preview version of Unreal Engine 5.5, allowing developers to try out the upgraded engine before its official launch. It features a brand new lighting tool called MegaLights, which allows the use of more dynamic light sources that generates realistic area shadows and can light volumetric fog.
To demonstrate this toolset in action, Epic showcased a breathtaking demo featuring a character exploring a game level illuminated by over a thousand shadow-casting lights in real-time on the PlayStation 5.
Unreal Engine 5.5 also makes Deformers easier to use, adds support for customizable vehicle models, upgrades the engine’s Skeletal Editor and Chaos Physics, improves mobile and developer iteration tools, and enhances virtual production workflows.

0:31 Yes!! Characters with speech impediments! Finally I feel represented
Wow
compression looks harsh, were the sources low bandwidth HD?
A polished turd. This probably has loss of quality when seen in real life, due to bluriness from denoising and visible noise.
Man, Playstation 10 in 30 years will look awesome.
charcter animation looks cheep
Stop making cars in videogames look like mirrors. if we want real graphics. not everything is a mirror.
RTX 5090…4K 30fps.
I select 4K, but the quality looks like 720p or less.
You'd better focus on optimization…
I wouldnβt say it was photo realistic. Itβs still pretty easy to tell itβs a game
This is how the Matrix begins.
Geeez give us intelligent gamers a break . 5 years later and there hasn't been one game that comes remotely close to your first tech demo let alone this. Dont even bother watching these Epic videos anymore. 2min in and Im already getting sick of your propaganda stunts π‘ Im sure some executive at IKEA can make use of your engine. Games companies certainly aren't π
looks super realistic = bad game
Do they have realistic physics and dectruction?
how does cartoon graphics look photorealistic? u see cartoons outside
All you need is just a tiny budget of 3000$ to afford PC to run this.
Wouldn't say SUPER photorealistic
thank you for 4k, IGN posted a shite 1080p pixelated mess!!
Seeing the success of Black Myth Wukong, the US may soon ban the sale of Unreal Engine to Chinese game developers. π
This is insane!!
the engine alone is more optimizated than a ubisoft game
it's sad those 4k video compression in YT are sucks big time!
I can't even see the difference between 1080p and 4K60
