I do believe this is the first time Nintendo actually acknowledged the Switch 2. Or did I miss something?

Well that would mean switch 2 exclusive games exist but can not be played on switch 1
But switch 1 can be played on switch 2

Oh good! We don’t have to experience another Wii Shop/past eshop closedown (for now.)

Also the cooling fan for my switch is dead, so just need to hang onto that extension fan for a little longer.

I see this as an absolute win I’ve been a Nintendo fan all my life this used to be the norm the ds used to play gameboy colour and advanced games the gameboy played colour games this is a insane W

my decision to wait till the nintendo switch 2 to play tears of the kingdom will pay off now.

Good decision.
This means I will buy the new console day one to continue playing my games on better hardware rather than waiting a year or so for the new console to slowly build it's game library from scratch.

This also has a downside that the new switch is now limited in the sense that it has to cater for older games on older consoles – So the Switch 2 probably won't blow the performance of the Switch out of the water

I guess the big question is the successor is like a 3DS to DS , meaning can we put our Switch cartridges in the Switch successor.

All I needed to hear, honestly. Backwards compatibility is such a big part of consoles these days, so knowing Nintendo is taking that step is huge. The fact that NSO will continue to next gen is a W, too!

Massive W from Nintendo. Hoping they can improve the quality with it as well, turning games into at least 60fps from the old 30fps. Games like ToTK will indeed need those improvements.
