Since its first publication in 1955, Jack Finney’s classic sci-fi/horror novel The Body Snatchers has inspired numerous adaptations and created a whole subgenre of era-defining alien doppelgangers in books, film, and TV. 2007’s The Invasion was ahead of the curve, its eerily predictive shift toward a virus-like contagion more frighteningly resonant in a post-pandemic world.

A space shuttle crashes to Earth carrying an alien organism. Soon people are changing, becoming detached and emotionless. People like CDC director Tucker Kaufman (Jeremy Northam) who is investigating the crash. Meanwhile his ex-wife, psychiatrist Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman), sees the same behaviour in a friend of their son, and a patient claims that her husband is no longer her husband. 1. Hollywood: “Let’s do another rehash of the 1970s Body Snatchers, we can’t come up with anything else”, pathetic!

  2. I thought this trailer was about the boat loads of men claiming to be children coming across the English Channel from war torn France. 😂

  3. So, this film came out before Covid-19. So many warnings in Sci-Fi movies and novels… and The Simpsons episodes!

  4. Terrible movie but at least in 2007 Nicole Kidman was still her natural beautiful self before she fucked up her face with surgery…Such a shame….

  5. It's the same as the 1970's version but a different plot. Releasing it on disk and not in theaters was a good choice.

  6. I dreamt of this where a certain type of alien virus landed with meteorites and it got into humans causing a zombie apocalypse virus worldwide its going to happen very soon and this wars are cover up of something they know will take place very soon get ready the ish WWZ is about to begin alot will be caught unawares be on lookout n stay ready

  7. This was an awful remake. The fact so many people were brought in to write and re-write, direct and re-direct is testament. Time doesn't heal all wounds and it certainly doesn't make bad remakes better. This film was a mess.

  8. anyone else feel like this has been the last 4 yrs in America? don’t say anything, don’t react, keep your head down

  9. This movie was terrible two decades ago and its still terrible today.

  10. When The Invasion first hit theaters upon its release in the mid aughts, the film didn't get a lot of love from critics nor audiences. I thought that unfortunate. I found the film curious, basically a revisionist take that offered a very different political/social view on the survival of humanity than the prior remakes of the film. Whatever the film's faults, I think the critics should have worked a bit harder to grasp how this version, somewhat more cynical and troubling, differed from its earlier incarnations. This is a remake that seems revealing about its historical moment. Whether you agree or not, it has something to say. The critics weren't listening.

  11. I'm trying to go back and discover forgotten films from the past 20 years. I'll stick it too the list.. .
