  1. right after you cut through yourself like a cake I heard the sound of an old game I remember playing called Cyberia it is the noise of a door opening if I remember correctly lol just thought I would see if that was the same sound

  2. Fair enough.

A quick game plug – I still find myself playing Laser Squad after all these years, and even though I didn't have a Speccy BITD it's the spectrum version I turn to today because of all the extra kevels available.

  3. You mean to tell me your in your 50s 😮. You look better than me ! I remember the Spectrum but never saw one. My Dad had a Commodore 16 and I used to love playing a game on it called 'Fire ant'. I remember the day i completed it I was ecstatic. I was around 8 in 1984. ❤

  4. I managed to get one of the Microdrive USBs at the recent Crash Live event, where RGL had a stand.
I put this on my Christmas list, so we will shall see if I get one…

  5. Fantastic video – I cant wait to get mine. So many memories just ready to ooooze out, once I load my first games. Thank-you for sharing.

  6. Oh, man, when the sound of the colour loading on the "Atic Atac" title screen happened @20:45, I was ready for it, but I literally teared up! I was flung 40 years back into the past, looking over my big brother's shoulder as he loaded up "Jet Pac". Damn, I might need to buy one of these. Or maybe 2.

  7. I was an Amstrad kid in 1984 with the colour monitor so never had a Spectrum, I've bought the A500 ane the C64 from them, and my very frist Spectrum is on the way!

  8. Loved my Spectrum (before moving onto an Amiga and Atari ST), many happy memories. My fave game was Jetpac. Z, X, I, J on the keyboard :). Thank you for your videos

  9. I remember first encountering the ZX80 and ZX81 thinking they were both amazing, but the next computer I got to play was a C64 and was blown away by its sound and graphics, so when I then saw the original ZX Spectrum and the games having almost no sound it just seemed rubbish. So never got into it, I wasn't bothered by graphics as such but when Commando and Rambo appeared on the C64 and then played the same games on the Spectrum it was all wrong. but the presentation on the new Spectrum is nailed on perfect.

  10. Ant Attack, go to the corner of an outer wall, walk straight ahead and after a while you should find a little Easter Egg, a cube/polygon or something.

  11. Remember Ghostbusters on the Spectrum. It spoke!
And Knight Lore was my fav.
Don’t get a joystick with it?

  12. I can totally relate with you buddy, I was 6 years old in 1982 and I spent literally hours playing with my older brother's Spectrum, I love that little black machine.
I still have the original functioning one, I orderd this few days ago and I look forward to receive it. Moving…

  13. I was a commodore kid in the UK in the 80’s but like you my friend had the spectrum and we always tried to compare games of both systems. Got my spectrum on Friday 22nd before it sold out. I love it and playing your own spectrum games with the loading screen and the noise brings back memories.

  14. Mine arrived on Friday, didn't have the correct (amperage) plug anywhere in my house, so I got one which just arrived. I would have liked the bound version of the manual, taking me back to my Spectrum days in the mid to late 80's (Not like you Mr Fractic, a C64 guy….Boo #spectrumwasbest). I agree though, it was £90 as it was, that would have added another £20-30 onto the price.

  15. I bet Sir Clive is looking down feeling very proud that his machine is still bringing joy, absolute classic days the 80’s

  16. @RetroRecipes
Me and my other half consider The Spectrum, as a disaster. Crappy connectors, unrepairable smd components, and made in China.
We, on the other hand, stick with the ORIGINAL SINCLAIR ZX SPECTRUM, for all its faults. In a few years from now, a fully refurbished Original Sinclair machine will be worth far more as a collectable than this updated Chinese garbage will ever be.

  17. I wanted a Radio Shack TRS-80 because that's what my friends and I used in 8th grade school class and we had pc games on cassettes that we
loaded into the trs80's. But what I got for Christmas was the Timex Sinclair. I used it one time and gave up on it !

  18. Hmmm… now, did you actually time the peeling of the film wrapping off the keyboard, in-time with the background music ? 🤔 Well it certainly sounded that way! 😎😃

  19. in the past I was always jealous of the zx spectrum 128, its graphics… although had less color were pixel perfect with nice ay music and in the c64 we had larger pixels to achieve multi color

  20. Tbf it looks a bit cheap inside compared to the original, even when compared to a ZX81, and you have to remember these were both done on a budget to start with, on that basis I'm not sure it's worth the asking price, when you can buy the original for around the same amount, as long as you have an old tv and a tape recorder.

  21. This was so fun. Sadly, I’ve never used a ZX Spectrum and perhaps one day, this will be the one I get to use. Great work, Peri. And I’m glad you and the ladies are on the mend. 💜

  22. This brings back so many memories as the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum were my first PCs. My parents got me the Spectrum for passing what was called School Certificate when I was about 15. I still had it and all the cassettes and peripherals until about five years ago when in a moment of maddness of moving house I threw it out. It wasn't going, mind you, but I wish I'd kept it.

  23. When putting your own games in..what format should you use for instant loading instead of 10 minute tape loading?

  24. Best review ever, I am 53 and it transported me back to a better time, a simpler time. Thank you, you have earned my subscription.

  25. "This gives the world some much needed happiness !"
So true this is the best thing ive seen recently, retro harmless fun mine is on the way and i cant wait some things WERE better back in the day.

  26. Knight Lore, Death Chase and Star Strike were my favs…oh and The Hobbit, Ghostbusters for Christmas 1984, oh the memories 🫡

  27. Christian,
My wife, daughter and I love you and your lovely family.
    You warm our hearts.
Really, I kind of want to be you.
    Thank you!

  28. Interesting I knew Sky bought the Set Stop Box division of Amstrad, didn't know they bought the whole thing

  29. Never liked the Spectrum due to the colour clash, they didn't even bother fixing it with the 128
